“Kylie,” I sigh, wanting to wrap my arms around her.
“Please don’t,” she begs, peering at me.
“Don’t what?”
“Look at me like that,” she answers. “Like you pity me. I don’t want you to look at me any differently. That’s not why I told you. I could tell you knew I was still hiding something and I don’t want to keep secrets from you.”
I think before I reply, “I don’t feel sorry for you. I hurt for you, Kylie, but most of all, I respect you for being so strong and able to overcome something horrible with no help from anyone.” Sitting next to her, I tuck hair behind her ear and continue, “I wish it never happened, but I’d never pity you. You are the strongest person I know and I’ll never look at you differently for something some jackass did to you. You fought back.”
“Thank you, Blake,” Kylie says looking at me, before she yawns.
“Tomorrow’s going to be a long day. We should get some sleep.” I stand up to leave the room.
“Stay with me, please.”
“What?”
“Stay with me,” she pulls back the other side of the blanket. “I don’t want to be alone right now.”
“Are you sure?” I ask.
She pats the bed next to her in answer. I lay down on the bed on my back looking at the ceiling, pulling the cover up to my hips and realizing I’m bare from the waist up. Turning my head, I see Kylie is lying on her side facing me; far enough away we aren’t touching, but close enough to feel her body warmth. I watch as Kylie lifts her finger and traces the tattoo on my side. I hiss at the contact.
“What does it mean?” she asks following the lines of the tattoo.
“It means to serve and protect in Latin,” I answer, trying to control my breathing.
Her finger leaves the tattoo and touches my chest, making circles around my nipple before moving down the center to my abs, following the lines of each one. “Kylie, what are you doing?”
She sits up and brings her eyes to my face. Her fingers trail back up my chest to my face, where she runs a finger along my bottom lip. Kylie leans down closer and I can see the desire in her eyes. I meet her halfway and place my lips are on hers in a firm kiss. I bring my hand to the back of her neck and gently pull her closer to me. She gasps, giving me an opening for my tongue to enter her mouth. I could go on forever just kissing her. Kylie deepens the kiss as she lifts a leg to straddle me and starts running her hands over my shoulders. I feel the heat from her core. She moves her lips to the side of my face and kisses a trail down my neck. As I’m catching my breath, I realize what we’re doing.
“Kylie,” I pant, “What are we doing? Are you sure you want this?”
“Please, Blake. Help me forget,” she begs as she places a hard kiss on my mouth.
Damn it! Not what I want to hear. I pull back from the kiss and push her to a sitting position with her still straddling me. “Kylie, we can’t.”
“What?” Kylie asks. Her face turns bright red. “Oh, my God!” She jumps off me and returns to her side of the bed, facing away from me. “I should’ve known better. You will always think of me as a little sister.”
“What?” I ask, astonished she’d think that. I pull her down, so she’s lying on her back. Hovering over, I place one of my legs in between hers and grab her hands to put them above her head. Kylie’s eyes widen. “Is that what you really think? That I think of you as a sister?”
Kylie bites her lip as she nods her head. I lower my head to suck on the bottom lip she just bit. Rubbing my erection on her hip, I growl and she gasps, as I ask, “Do you feel that? Does that feel like I have any sisterly thoughts towards you?”
She shakes her head.
“Good because I’ve NEVER thought of you as a sister, Kylie.” I kiss the corner of her mouth.
“Then why did you stop?” she asks gasping as I kiss a trail down her neck.
I lift my head to look at her, “Because, Kylie, when this happens…and note I said when, not if…when this happens, it’s not going to be because you want to forget.” I kiss her right temple. “When this happens, it’s going to happen because you want it,” I kiss her left temple. “Because you have to have it.” I kiss her left cheek. “Because you need it.” I kiss her nose. “Because you can’t think of anything else.” I kiss her right cheek. “Because you can’t live one second longer without it.” I kiss her hard on the lips. “When you get to that point, Kylie, let me know and that’s when I’ll fuck you into oblivion. At that moment, I’ll fuck you until neither of us can think straight and we forget our own names.”
She gasps. I look her in the eyes, “But until that day comes, I’ll be here patiently waiting for you, like I’ve been waiting for ten years.” I release her arms and roll off her. Laying on my back, I pull her into my side, feeling her warm, moist breath on my chest and add, “Now, let’s get some sleep before I regret my decision and have my wicked way with you right now.”
After a few minutes, she relaxes into my side, placing a hand on my chest and sighs. “Thanks, Blake.”
“Anything for you, Kylie.” I wait until I feel her breathing even out, and I kiss her head, falling asleep with her in my arms like I’ve always wanted.

**I received this book for an honest review**

Murder Mystery With A Love Twist.

On what was supposed to be the happiest night of her life, Kylie Delaney loses it all. In what seems to be a random mugging, Kylie loses her husband Jeff and their unborn child that she didn't even get to tell him about.

Nine months later and she is losing her house and moving back to her hometown to live with her brother and to be closer to her sister-in-law Dani. She also reconnects with an old crush who also happens to be a detective in their hometown and one of her brother’s best friends and also the man who broke her heart when they were teenagers. This does not stop her from remembering those feelings or being attracted to him when she sees him again, but she also feels guilty and thinks it’s too soon since her husband was killed.

Blake has been in love with Kiley since they were teenagers and would do anything to keep her safe, so when bodies start piling up and seem to be connected to Kylie and the murder of her husband, Blake wants nothing more than to protect her. So of course the best way to protect her is to stay with her, to be with her 24/7. The more they are together the stronger their bond becomes and those old feelings come rushing back to the surface.

While trying to find out who the killer is and why he/she is targeting Kylie and the people she knows she and Blake become closer. Their lives become intertwined and the more this happens the more erratic the killer becomes.

I love these kinds of books. I was guessing the whole time. There were a pool of suspects to choose from and when it all comes together It. Is. Mind blowing. Props to Lynn Stookes for a such a suspenseful first book filled with great characters.

"Great book filled with romance and mystery "

Kylie is a girl who has been through a difficult year and the death of her husband and son still hurts. She is a very sweet and smart girl. Her childhood was not easy, but she tries to help others and do good. While Blake was in love with Kylie for years but took the wrong choice. He is a  strong and passionate guy who knows what he wants. When both are together, it returns the  old flames, but then there is someone behind Kylie and Blake tries to discover who is before she finished dead.

The book is full of suspense because we know how  the murderer thinks, what he is planning and that is obsessed with Kylie. Blake is the guy that every girl would want, is attentive, protective and caring. He doesn't cares what anybody says, he just wants to protect the girl he loves. The author takes a twist at the end that I did not expect, but always knew who the murderer because that person seemed suspicious.

I like that the author included the point of view of the murderer in the beginning of the book. How the romance of Kylie and Blake doesn't seems too fast. They take their time and try to fix the errors that they both did in the past. Is amazing how the author made every character look suspicious.

It is a good book for people who like books filled with mystery, suspense and romance. The book sucks you in and you want to know what happens next. Would love to read Dani's story. The score that I give this book is 5 amazing stars.
