| **“He’s a brute,” I complain to the camera in the diary room that’s been set up in my expansive condo on the Upper East Side. “All he does is grunt.” I scrunch my nose up for the camera’s benefit. The brute in question is none other than Harley Harrison. The man I married for ratings. Harley and Taylor's marriage is a sham, a show just for ratings on Taylor's tv show. With cameras in her house 24/7, and Taylor a b*tch all the time, Harley is still determined to break through her walls and get her to see him, to give him a chance. Suffering from a broken heart, Harley had agreed to do the show and marry Taylor, hoping maybe he would get another shot at love. He knows it was just for ratings, but a man can hope right? Too bad Taylor is such a b*tch and doesn't let anyone see the real her, only what her fans and the producers want her to show. He's determined one way or another that he will break through her walls and get to see the real Taylor, and get her to see him too. **“You’re my wife,” he snarls. “Their stupid contract means nothing to me. But our marriage certificate means everything.” Taylor is none to thrilled about Harley either. He's messy, she's a neat freak. He leaves his clothes all over. He plays the tv too loud. He tracks mud onto her pristine white carpets, and he drives her absolutely crazy! She don't care if he is one sexy Mountain Man (as she likes to call him). **When Harley turns his flirt on, I don’t know that there is a woman alive that is immune to it. But he’s an @ss. A sexy one. The story may be a Novella but reads like a full book. You get drama, heartache, a terrorist attack, a crazy man with a gun, and of course love in the most unexpected place. Also, lots of hot scenes of course. I thought this was really well written and I really liked the characters. Harley was everything I like in a book Boyfriend, sexy, rugged, good with his hands, possessive and very protective, and it helps he is a survivalist. Taylor started out snooty and b*tchy but when she got away from the show and producers and just let Harley in, her character really shined. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** The only issue I had with this story, and I've read several of Websters books and know she has a penchant for writing about abuse - especially for young girls - but when Taylor is explaining to Harley about her past in a foster home when she was 15 and says how her foster dad raped her and she liked it (because she was just looking for someone to love her she explained), well, it just didn't sit right with me. She was 15, and was abused. And I think it could have been done without her 'liking it' part even if she was that starved for attention. I've read several dark reads and know that it is fiction but I think that can be an issue for some, especially if they have several triggers that they try to avoid. |
